Substance Use Disorder

Substance Use Disorder (SUD) or addiction is a complicated, multidimensional problem. It can have disastrous effects on a person’s relationships, general quality of life, and physical, mental, and emotional health. The road to recovery might feel lonely, intimidating and unattainable to many. Like any other chronic disease, addiction may be overcome with proper treatment, support and guidance. At Advanced TeleClinic, we provide Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for alcohol, opioids and cocaine disorders.

What is Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)?

FDA-approved drugs combined with behavioral therapy and counseling form the basis of medication-assisted treatment, an all-encompassing approach to addiction treatment. As it addresses the root causes of addiction, the main objective of MAT is to assist people in cutting back or quitting the use of substances that are addictive. Instead of focusing only on the symptoms of addiction, MAT treats the full person by combining medical, psychological, and social support.

Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD):  defined by an obsessive drive to drink, causes problems in both personal and professional spheres. Increased tolerance, withdrawal, and responsibility neglect are some of the symptoms.

Opioid Use Disorder (OUD):  involves the abuse of opioids, is characterized by strong cravings, a lack of self-control, and continuing use of the drug despite negative effects. Dependency on substances, both psychological and physical, can have serious health effects.

Alcohol use disorder medications: It might be difficult for those with alcohol use problems to stop drinking. When used in conjunction with sobriety, the drugs acamprosate, disulfiram, and naltrexone can help to discourage drinking. These drugs neither immediately alleviate symptoms nor cure the illness. Enrollment in a multi-component treatment program is mandatory for participants. The program consists of individual psychotherapy sessions, community education workshops on healthy lifestyles, and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT).

Opioid dependency medications: Those suffering from opioid addictions can benefit from the drugs buprenorphine, and naltrexone. They function by lessening unpleasant withdrawal symptoms and obstructing the effects of opioids on the brain. These medication-assisted treatments are frequently combined in rehab programs with meetings for support groups and psychological counseling. Since every person’s path to sobriety is unique, at Advanced TeleClinic, we have created a MAT program that offers individualized treatment regimens catered to the requirements of everyone.
